Message from Shamsaan Education Ambassador: Janna Jihad on the Tour of the representatives of the Al Quds University
Recipients of the education fund
First of all let me introduce myself, my name is Nadin Mabhouh and I am a fourth year medical student in Alquds University.
I am the only girl with 3 other brothers, Tawfiq which is 20 years old ( also a medical student ), Muhannad is 14 years old, and our little diabetic brother Basel who is 13 years old.
My parents have a complicated intermarriage ,my mother is from Jerusalem with the blue ID, and my father is from Gaza with Palestinian green ID, and we have the blue ID and as to maintain that ID we should live in Jerusalem without our father.
Well my interest in medicine dates back to my three year old brother diagnosis of type A diabetes ten years ago, which was a painful sudden to our family. Going with him to doctor’s appointments and pursuing his condition, was the reason to my curiosity to begin seeking in the field of diseases, the human body diverse systems and each function of our organs. Later on, I started reading about glands and their function reaching to their huge and important role in our body, and realizing that their damage is the reason of most diseases nowadays. Since then I realized the effect diabetes can have on the patients and their families, and really appreciate how important and fulfilling being a doctor would be in such circumstances. Moreover my great interest and high marks in science especially biology, chemistry and mathematics have pushed me to think of studying pediatric endocrinology.
I am beginning my new life in this amazing field because of you. We in my opinion need to be skillful enough to deal with different health issues in both physical and psychological sides. Medical world is full of challenges doctor might face daily, and I find myself hard-working and a responsible person to be challenged in this position. Another thing is that a doctor might face social problems because of long hours of studing, and for no doubt I find myself organized and efficient to avoid social problems. I hope you will give me the privilege of continuing my medical studies.
I’m Samah Hamad from Palestine , a sixth year medical student at Al Quds University , I live with my family which consist of my mother, one sister and a brother and I’m the youngest one as my father died since 24 years ago .
My college attendance story has started in 2013 when I finished my secondary high school successfully and I decided to study medicine as it was my big dream since childhood, In the beginning I’ve faced some obstacles and challenges that made my attendance to the medical school hard but fortunately I overcame all these obstacles with the help of god first and my supporting family. And now I’m an undergraduate who will get the bachelor’s degree in medicine in a few months.
As my future plans I would like to specialize in Interventional radiology just after getting my career practice certificate as I think it would be the future of medicine and there’s no interventional radiologist in my country until now .
